Ten new police officers have been hired as the result of the expanded jurisdiction of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in Corner Brook.
The new jurisdiction now includes Pasadena, Massey Drive and all the communities on the north and south shores of the Bay of Islands. Justice Minister John Hogan says the RCMP will continue to maintain a presence in the region, with the Corner Brook detachment open or specialized and federal policing services, as well as the RNC/RCMP Joint Forces Operation West.
