Montreal is getting its first ever trans film festival.
Organized by a queer and trans film collective of the same name, the Exposures Film Festival will screen 80 trans films over four days.
It’s a big jump from Exposures’ early days in 2023. Founder Iris Pintiuta, a film PhD student at McGill, says the festival wouldn’t be possible without the community built around a year and a half of public screenings.
CKUT speaks to Pintiuta ahead of this week’s festival, which runs Sept. 19-22 at Espace Transmission.
