McLeod Lake Indian Band and Ulkatcho First Nation signed an agreement Thursday that formalizes collaboration between their development corporations, building trust between the nations and streamlining efforts to capitalize on economic opportunities in the region by sharing resources and expertise.
Central signatories of Ulkatcho, Chief Lynda Price, and McLeod Lake, Harley Chingee, reflected on the developing relationships that have occurred over the past several years.
When asked what he most looked forward to, Harley Chingee emphasized training members of the nation, “because so much more power to them, and so much more power to us, because word gets around that we’re doing this and other nations will come and see what sort of experience we have in doing this kind of stuff.”
He also referred to partnering on some upcoming developments including connecting Ulkatcho to Vanderhoof via a new road.
