The Honourable Mike Morris, MLA for Prince George – Mackenzie district since 2013, won’t seek re-election this October 2024, effectively retiring.
He reflects with CFUR News on some challenges during his political career with the BC Liberals and BC United Party. He advises the future MLA to, “be yourself.”
Morris advocates for diversifying Northern BC’s economy by expanding industry, mining, and transportation. Alongside this, he remains passionate about addressing clear cutting practices and endorses conservation, which he increasingly focused on over his time in office. Years of conversations, research, and touring BC all lead him to believe that our forests are in rough shape, which contributes to floods and fires across the region.
As it pertains to advocating for our own needs he shares advice from a former teacher. Essentially, we’re given the ability to choose. We are provided with stimulus, and then we make a response, “we are response-able.”
