“Nanny, I don’t want you to go”….. were the words that led to the end of a ten year political career of Long Range Mountains MP Gudie Hutchings. She announced her decision on January 9 after deciding during the Christmas break she will not be seeking re-election.
The Corner Brook native says she will continue to serve her constituents until the next election as there is “always work to be done”. Meanwhile, Hutchings says she is happy that she will be able spend more time with her young grandchildren and watch them grow up.
Hutchings was elected three times in a row as the MP for Long Range Mountains. She is currently Minister of Rural Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
