A College of New Caledonia (CNC) student Michelle Lindemann has won a $10,000 Indigenous Women in Technology Scholarship for her academic achievements and demonstrated commitment to a career in technology.
The second-year Civil Engineering Technology student was presented with her scholarship at the BC Scholarship Society award ceremony on November 16 in Vancouver. Michelle told CICK News “[the award] gave me the confidence in my ability to continue with the program. I struggle with a lot of self-doubt still, but it provides a potential pathway to act as a role model for future women who might be considering a career in STEM.”
Celebrating women in technology is especially important this week as Friday, December 6th is the anniversary of the killing of 14 women studying technology at École Polytechnique in Montreal in 1989.
