Local production company Branded To Film is aiming to break ground on a $20M film studio in 2025, taking Kingston’s growing film industry to the next level.
Jason Joly, founder and CEO of Branded to Film, has been spearheading the project, seeing the potential to turn Kingston’s film sector into a $100M industry.
“I kind of realized that Kingston has all of the right ingredients from location diversity to talent, to young people looking to build careers in creative industries… and the fact that Kingston actually had a film office,” Joly explained in an interview with CFRC.
The 62,000 square foot studio will be located in Kingston’s east end.
With 75% of the project financed, Joly states he has hopes they will be able to announce the official dates for construction at the upcoming Kingston Canadian Film Festival in February-March 2025.
