Some residents of Western NL have been waiting for nearly two years for cataract surgery and Bay of Islands MHA Eddie Joyce says that wait has now been eliminated.
Dr. Justin French and his team of ophthalmologists and staff, the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association, and the Department of Health and Community Services have approved the additional quota necessary within the five year contract. They have signed off on the agreement. Joyce says “this is very good news for all the people waiting to have surgery completed to enjoy a better quality of life.“ He believes this will lessen wait times now for surgeries like hips, knee joints, etc. at the new hospital in Corner Brook.
