Local author Iris Gildea has just published a new book.
Gildea drafted “The Poetry of Belonging: Healing with the Language of the Wound” on Sointula in 2021 on a retreat and later finished the book on Cortes Island. Gildea explains that the local geography is “woven” into the book.
Gildea shares the new book’s ability to show, “how poetry can open us up to understanding and engaging with our own experiences in a way that ordinary language can’t and the way that all arts can open us up to that.”
The book was officially released March 1 and her publisher Mad and Crip Theology Press will be hosting a book launch in Toronto on April 3.
