Marco Poulin, a local athlete, won first place in the Big Wolf’s Backyard Ultra Marathon, which took place in Cacouna, Bas-Saint-Laurent, on July 13-14.
The race requires runners to complete a 6.69 km loop every hour until only one remains. Poulin ran for 53 hours, covering over 355 km.
Poulin faced significant challenges before becoming a marathon runner, including addiction and homelessness, and emphasized that even at age 60, determination can overcome obstacles.
He will represent Canada at an international event in October and shares his journey through conferences and social media.
