A local artist in NDG is offering a thousand dollar prize in exchange for one specific $5 bill.
Back in November of 2024, artist Tristan Tondino took a five dollar bill from his pocket, drew on it a bit, and then painted a large depiction of that bill. The painting, titled Water is Life, includes the bill’s serial number. Later, Tondino went out in NDG and spent that bill.
His idea is that both the bill and the painting are part of one conceptual piece. Tondino is looking for the bill hoping that it will be reunited with the painting.
In addition to being a conceptual piece, the project is a charitable endeavour, with the painting being donated to a local mental health and addictions centre.
