Staff at Lennox and Addington county will be applying for nearly $3M to reconstruct a portion of County Road 6 between Taylor Kidd and Highway 33.
This week, Council approved staff to apply under the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program (MHIP) through the Housing Enabling Core Servicing Stream (HECS).
Successful projects could see costs shared 50/50 with the province. Projects funded through the program will include repair and expansion of municipal roads and bridges that will help promote growth for developing communities. The estimated cost for the County Road 6 project is $6M.
County staff reviewed potential projects including the county road 23 extension, new roads in
Greater Napanee connecting Bridge to Jim Kimmett, and the County Road 1 realignment. Based on the funding criteria, staff chose the reconstruction of County Road 6 to be the best candidate for funding approval. This project would include intersection improvements as well.
