The site of a landslide that happened in Corner Brook won’t be cleaned up anytime soon.
On April 2, the landslide on Riverside Drive swept two people in a vehicle into the cold waters of the Humber River. The road, which is a main road connecting the city to the north shore of the Bay of Islands, has been closed since that time.
On Monday, Coun. Charles Pender gave an update saying to further evaluate the situation, a Lidar scan is required and the scan is scheduled to be completed within the next two weeks. It will be sometime after the scan is done that cleanup will begin. As a result, Riverside Drive will remain closed. Once this report is finalized, cleanup efforts can begin.
