The Coast Mountains School District announced on Facebook June 6 that Kitwanga Elementary School, has received a $10,000 grant from the “Indigo Love of Reading Foundation.”
Funding from this grant will be used to enhance its library and literacy programs. Vice Principal Kassia Nameth, a the teacher librarian and the literacy support teacher, spoke with CFNR, confirming that the grant will be used to purchase books reflecting students’ interests, such as Minecraft, SpongeBob, and Lego, aiming to increase engagement and academic achievement.
Nameth adds that the school plans to host a variety of community literacy events, including educational events and fun events for families to come together and read.
