Why It’s imPossible, a play written by Kingston’s own Sophia Fabiilli, is set to make its world premiere at the Kingston Grand Theatre tonight with an exploration of the complexities of modern parenthood and gender identity.
Despite being a Kingston local and longtime writer, this marks Fabiilli’s first premiere in the city. Fabiilli explained in an interview with CFRC, “We kind of had this goal of why can’t we do a play premiere here? Can we build a play that is specifically for Kingston audiences? And so that has really been a driving force about the whole project.”
The team also collaborated with local organization TransFamily Kingston throughout the process of creating the show.
After its Kingston performance, it will move to Ottawa, where it will be featured in the Great Canadian Theatre Company’s 2024-25 Season.
