The Kingston Symphony is performing their first ever Relaxed Performance this weekend at the Kingston Grand Theatre, offering a new experience and opening the doors for more audience members.
A Relaxed Performance is a concert which does away with some of the typical formalities associated with shows, allowing audience members to move freely, express themselves vocally, and come and go as they please. The setup provides a more relaxed environment for audiences, being especially helpful for neurodiverse and disability communities.
This new format for the orchestra will be debuted at their first family concert series of the 2024-2025 season. The work is entitled Harmon Live and based off of the popular Harmon in Space web series the orchestra created during the COVID pandemic.
Listen to the full story for an interview with Kingston Symphony Musical Director Evan Mitchell, who dives into the importance of this milestone for the orchestra and what audiences can expect.
