Kingston has launched the first innovative outdoor battery recycling container from Environmental 360 Solutions (E360S), a project conceived and manufactured in Kingston.
During the pandemic, Kingston resident Sam Santucci got to work on the design for a 24/7, accessible option for battery recycling. With leading environmental management company E360S, the bin has been manufactured with features like temperature control, a sensor which can alert when the bin is full and ready for collection, and fire resistance.
Kingstonians, including councilors and environmental advocates, and members from the E360S team gathered at Springer Market Square yesterday to unveil the very first bin, placed right next to City Hall.
Bins will continue to be manufactured in Kingston, and council will be determining where more bins can be placed around the city at their next meeting in August.
