The John M. Parrott Centre (JMPC) long term care home will be updating and replacing a range of equipment and infrastructure after having received over $427,000 from the province this month.
This one-time funding from the ministry of long-term care has seen all long-term care homes in Ontario receive $2,543 per bed for installation of sprinklers. The initiative is designed to help homes meet Ontario fire code requirements by Jan. 1, 2025. Any homes that already had sprinklers, such as JMPC, were able to use the funds elsewhere to address key priorities in their spaces.
The JMPC will be fully updating its wireless phone system, as their current phones have reached the end of their life and replacement parts are no longer available. Staff have also budgeted for 70 new chairs for residents’ rooms, new digital call bell displays, and the replacement of hand rails throughout the centre.
