Since 2005, Food Not Bombs Peterborough has been serving a free, vegetarian meal every Monday night in Confederation Square, across from Peterborough City Hall. In 2023, they say they are seeing more people than before.
They are the local chapter of the global Food Not Bombs movement, which has over 1000 chapters in over 65 countries worldwide, according to their website.
Trent Radio spoke with one of the original members of Food Not Bombs Peterborough, Myles Conner, about the group.
“Food Not Bombs Peterborough is part of a global movement of people that choose to organize themselves, to reclaim food that would otherwise go to waste, cook it up collectively, and serve it for free in public to anyone, without exception.”
Conner talks about how the local chapter began, how the group continues to operate for free, and the worsening state of food insecurity in Peterborough.
