In the wake of the Prince Edward County 2024 budget talks from two weeks ago, illness has struck members of Council resulting in the cancellation of the December 19 Council meeting.
The big issue hanging in the air is the awarding of tender for the multi-million dollar Wellington Trunk Line. Council pressed pause at the November 28 meeting after numerous individuals and grass roots groups pleaded with Council to put on the brakes and investigate more options. The impact on tax payers would be significant and with current high interest rates the fear is the developer may back out.
A tender has been chosen and the issue will be the hot topic for the next meeting on January 9, 2024 as well as staff report on the Trae Resort application and the reconsideration of the U-ride subsidy.
