Election season is well underway in Nova Scotia.
As the decisive November 26 date approaches, many people are voting early — despite some key differences this time around. One of the biggest changes was a decision to not issue voter identification cards to residents.
All in-person early votes can be casted by e-ballot at voting locations across the province until election day – when operations will pivot to paper ballots. A voter can also cast a ballot for their home electoral district at any early voting location, such as a returning office or advance poll, throughout the province until November 26, when they will then have to vote in their district.
Despite the adjustments, Naomi Shelton, Elections Nova Scotia’s director of policy and communications, said the province is already seeing higher early-voter participation than the previous election in 2021.
CKDU was joined by Shelton to get an understanding on when, where, and how people can vote across the province’s 55 electoral districts this election cycle.
