Housing is about more than just four walls and a roof – it’s about having a place to call home, and BC’s Minister of Housing, Ravi Kahlon is passionate about housing as a human right.
During his time as Minister, the province has enacted new policies from the Northern Healthy Communities Fund and the Homes for People Plan which has made non-market housing options more desirable for non-profit developers. While incentives such as these programs help, each region in the province has its own unique challenges.
Minister Kahlon spoke to CICK News about the challenges and opportunities for the Bulkley Valley. It is was part of a larger conversation regarding the most recent supportive housing unit proposed for Smithers BC in partnership with BC Housing, the town of Smithers and the Dze’ L Kant Friendship Centre.
