A bridge which is almost three quarters of a century old in a small hamlet in Northumberland County is set to be replaced next year with a more modern design, aimed at increasing safety and traffic flow.
The Burnley Bridge in the hamlet of Burnley near Warkworth Ontario is a single lane bridge and has reached the end of its life cycle.
Officials with Northumberland County have decided that a full replacement is now warranted.
Construction of a new bridge will take approximately four to six months. This means motorists traveling this portion of County Road 29 will have to find an alternate route.
CFWN News Reporter Dan Jones spoke with Denise Marshall, Director of Public Works for Northumberland County about the history of the bridge and what area residents can expect in the future.
