People wanting to adopt a rabbit during Adopt a Rescued Rabbit Month will get a price break. Adopting a bunny from the Guelph Humane Society (GHS) will cost $75, down from $160.
Lisa Veit, executive director at the society, says intake went sky-high for rabbits during the pandemic as there was more demand for furry friends.
Now, with 13 rabbits in care, Veit says finding the bunnies homes is an issue across GHS and other societies. She stated there has been a 34 per cent decrease in adoption rates in the past year.
The promotion for cheaper adoption runs month-long, and Veit encourages people to take in the “often underestimated” pet.
CICW chatted with Veit during the ‘Hoppy Tails’ rabbit adoption promotion.
