Grenfell Campus in Corner Brook is into the start of the new semester and in person classes have begun. A cyber security attack struck the facility and Information technology services were taken offline on Dec. 29. The matter is under investigation and a cause or details are not known yet.
In person classes were delayed by a week. Now, Vice President Dr. Ian Sutherland says classes are off to a good start.
He says the incident was contained to the campus and they’ve made a lot of progress over the past number of days: he says most services are operational. The cyber security team is working with IT staff to find the point of entry and helping fix things, but Sutherland says he’s unsure of when they will have a full report.
