A world-wide phenomenon of candlelight concerts is coming to Guelph for the first time.
The live entertainment platform, Fever, is behind the Candlelight Concerts and a media release says they have attracted nearly three million spectators in more than 150 cities globally.
Andrew Bryan, team lead for Candlelight Canada, says the performances include a string quartet in “stunning locations illuminated by thousands of LED candles.”
The release also said one of the goals of the Candlelight Concerts is to “democratize music.” Bryan explained 80 per cent of attendees say it was their first classical music concert ever.
They also try to hire local musicians and Bryan says they will be accepting applications for the Guelph performances.
There are two shows on Sept. 20: A Tribute to Taylor Swift and Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. A Tribute to Coldplay is Nov. 1. All of the performances are at the Royal City Mission Church.
