Folk University and the Cortes Island Museum and Archives is hosting two events to honor Valentine’s Day.
The first gathering is a writing and art-making workshop on Feb. 11. Jane Newman will be teaching participants how to compose a collage letter to someone they admire. Folk University is funding the workshop and the museum is providing space to host.
The collaborative programming is open to all ages and abilities; as the finished product is actually a collaged composition, elegant handwriting is not required. Newman notes that, “it’s available for anybody that can write words.”
The second program is “An Evening of Love Letter Readings,” which will be hosted by Oriane Lee, a local author, and will take place at the museum on Feb. 14 at 7 p.m.
Both community events are free.
