Windsorites are starting the new year by helping the community. The Feed the Streets event on January 21 is an organization run by community members, for community members. The team passes out food and resources to those who need it, while also giving human connection at the same time.
The food is homecooked by volunteers in their own kitchens. It’s not just food they’re sharing — the food comes served with hugs and respect.
They hope to help break the stigmas surrounding those experiencing homelessness, and show people that everyone is human — emphasizing that anyone could end up in a dire situation where they would need help too, so it’s important to be understanding.
On January 9, CJAM spoke to Ashley Shepley, one of the planners of the Feed the Streets event. She spoke about the event, its importance for the community, and shared a moment in her life where she realized how dire life can be for those struggling through homelessness.
