Topsy Farms on Amherst Island has added a free electric fence workshop to its list of popular spring events this year.
Alongside Gallagher Animal Management, the farm will be running an electric fence workshop based on the idea of continuing to grow produce outdoors without having to exterminate predatory wildlife. The workshop will focus on using a set of physical boundaries to guide wildlife away from crops and home gardens. The idea behind it is based on sustainability and being able to allow the ecosystem on the island to remain intact.
The farm will be running a tree grafting workshop on March 23, two weekends of sheep shearing events beginning April 5, and will be doing their regular five weeks of baby sheep cuddling in bookable timeslots.
The farm has not released the dates for booking yet, but noted these timeslots are normally fully booked within 1-2 days of posting.
