Downtown Fergus will be a bit brighter thanks to some grant funding.
Centre Wellington Township was awarded over $88,000 in funds through the My Main Street program. My Main Street is a government program to spur local economic recovery, funded under the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.
As part of the application, many initiatives were considered and approved, but because of timing, staff said many desired projects are now not possible and instead the focus will be on three key initiatives. Those initiatives were approved by council during a meeting earlier this week and include the installation of downtown lighting project, increasing the number of Twilight in Templin concerts and enhancing night markets such a Sip and Shop and Witches Night Out.
