Dark Highway, a documentary on human trafficking in Ontario, will be premiering tonight at the Kingston Canadian Film Festival.
In her first documentary feature, Kingston director Anna Jane Edmonds reveals how the 401, the busiest highway in North America, is a seldom-acknowledged scene of this crime. Edmonds uses first-hand accounts of survivors, community organizers and others to shed light on the experiences of many women and children along Ontario’s busy corridors.
While audiences will be confronted with the horrifying reality of this crime, Edmonds says she also arms viewers with crucial knowledge and instills hope for a better future.
While tonight’s premiere is sold out, there are still tickets available for the showing on Sunday, March 3, at the Baby Grand.
