With winter weather on the way, a debate over a controversial bike path in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce has been renewed, now with added accessibility concerns.
In the summer of 2024, just over two kilometers of road on Terrebonne street were narrowed and made one directional for motor traffic to fit a partially secured two directional bike path. Many supported the decision, but others voiced concern that it would block parking and prevent accessibility to the schools, a church and an accessible education center on this strip of Terrebonne.
Now, with snow on the way and fewer people biking, some are calling for the lane to be temporarily removed for the winter. CJLO spoke with councillors and community members about both sides of the argument.
