Six Nations Elected Council (SNEC) say they will provide a letter of support to the Six Nations Rivermen Senior B lacrosse team in their bid to host the 2025 Presidents Cup.
The request was made from Six Nations Rivermen General Manager Jay Smith during the June 18 General Council meeting.
Smith says the two-time President Cup winners, have participated in the tournament five times but never as the hosting team.
He says in previous years costs to host the tournament have been covered by the provincial lacrosse governing body, in this case the Ontario Lacrosse Association. Smith estimated that the costs to play host could potentially be $20,000-$30,000.
SNEC moved and passed the motion unanimously and will provide a letter of support to the Six Nations Rivermen in hopes of securing the bid to host the 2025 Presidents Cup scheduled to roughly take place from Aug. 24-30, 2025.
