A number of staffing enhancements totaling over $914,00 will be included in Lennox and Addington County’s 2024 preliminary budget estimates.
The Fixing Long Term Care Act (FLTCA), 2021 outlines gradual yearly targets for all long term care homes across Ontario. This year, homes must see an average of three hours and 42 minutes of direct care provided per resident per day no later than March 31. The goal which the John M. Parrott Centre (JMPC) is working towards now is four hours of direct care to be provided per resident per day no later than March 31, 2025.
According to staff’s report, working towards the four required hours of care will require the home to build enhancements into the nursing department. The only positions that can be included in the four hours of care are PSW’s, RPN’s, and RN’s.
The centre will also be adding additional dietary, environmental and maintenance staffing hours.
