Six Nations residents looking to purchase a home through Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation’s (SNGRDC) Tiny Homes Project will be able to apply for a housing loan through Six Nations Housing.
At the Political Liaison meeting on January 8, Six Nations Elected Council approved Six Nations Housing and SNGRDC to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU). Six Nations Housing Senior Manager, Lily-Anne Mt. Pleasant will sign the MOU with SNGRDC to allow community members to utilize the loan program to purchase a home through the Tiny Homes Project.
SNGRDC stressed that the MOU will give community members an economical way to purchase the homes, but other building related expenses (foundation, utility hookups) are not covered through the loan program and buyers are still obligated to source those funds.
