The food resource center in Côte-des-Neiges, Multicaf, is turning 35 this year. They say they have been backed up with people in need for the last five of those years.
A recent report from the city shows Côte-des-Neiges-NDG is the second most serviced borough in Montreal for food insecurity, meaning the amount of people coming for help is very high. Multicaf services 122,000 people in need every month, and case workers there say they can see up to 300 people a day.
As one of only two food resource centres in the borough, they’ve had to turn people away daily.
