The Corner Brook Fire Department was broken into this week and many of their collected toys were damaged or destroyed.
Each year, the Corner Brook Fire Department collects donations, gifts, and stuffies for kids of people with lower incomes. Greg Dinney, lieutenant of the Corner Brook Fire Department, says their storage location was broken into last week sometime. Dinney says the place was damaged and the gifts were destroyed.
Dinney says upwards of $4,000 worth of toys were destroyed, not stolen, but he says the toy drive will still go ahead this year.
“There was no doubt in my mind,” he said, when community members asked if the drive would move forward this holiday season.
“We just need a little more help,” he added.
Anyone interested in donating to the Toy Drive can contact the Corner Brook Fire Department.
