It was probably NL’s best living room at the Celebration of Dave McHugh on Saturday at the Corner Brook Civic Centre. That’s according to his brother, Brian McHugh.
Dave passed away on November 8th, leaving a void for all who knew him. At the event, a large crowd showed their respects to Dave with life sized posters on the walls and about 30 local musical entertainers.
Brian McHugh says it was easy to feel his brother’s presence and the family felt it was important to have this event.
Bay of Islands MHA Eddie Joyce presented Dave’s mother, Ann McHugh, with the 75th Anniversary of NL Confederation with Canada award and medal. Mrs McHugh graciously accepted and says she still waits for “her Davey” to come home.
Corner Brook MHA and cabinet Minister Gerry Byrne was also there to make an announcement. He says a $30,000 yearly scholarship is being created in Dave’s name by the provincial government.
