600 workers are on the picket line at Concordia University. At issue: their right to work remotely, as the university transitions away from hybrid work arrangements brought on during COVID-19.
The strike began on Wednesday (Sept. 4), and workers have a two-week strike mandate.
The CUPEU union represents many of the university’s workers in administrative and support roles, including in IT, finance, nursing, counselling, and communications.
University spokesperson Vannina Maestracci declined to comment on bargaining, but said in a statement to CKUT they “remain hopeful that there will be an agreement that addresses the needs of both the union members and the university.”
