The Save Cobourg Centennial Pool group is keeping a watchful eye on the 2024 budget deliberations and the group’s founder is pleased so far operation costs for this year are included for the outdoor facility.
It was a year ago this time when Town of Cobourg staff proposed for the 2023 budget to close the outdoor Centennial Pool last summer and decommission it this year. That caused Meghan Thomas to form the group to fight to keep the pool open as it has been since 1967.
The pool is used by all ages groups, she says, and encourages residents who want to see it maintained to complete the town’s budget survey at engagecobourg.ca. Residents can also contact her at cobourgcentennialpool@gmail.com.
Northumberland 89.7 caught up with Meghan Thomas to find out where things stand now.
