The Cobourg Fire Department has received 210 combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to distribute in the community through a partnership with Enbridge Gas.
Enbridge Gas is providing more than 10,000 alarms in 50 municipalities across Ontario as part of a $315,000 investment to Safe Community Project Zero, a public education campaign with the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council.
Enbridge has provided more than 86,000 alarms to Ontario fire departments during the past 15 years.
CFWN spoke with Cobourg deputy fire chief Kevin Ashfield about how the department will distribute the alarms, being a part of the Project Zero campaign and continuing to raise more awareness, particularly about the dangers of carbon monoxide.
