A new location for CMHA Waterloo-Wellington in Guelph means a continued effort to change the path of mental health among youth, according to their CEO.
Helen Fishburn dubbed the new Children’s and Youth Services Building a “beacon of hope” for the community. Nursing and crisis teams as well as early-age care and more will be provided at the fresh facility, located at 737 Woolwich St.
Fishburn says the building, that came with a $60 million price tag between a donation and fundraising work, is expected to care for about 9,000 children and youth each year.
While they’re still in the process of transitioning into the building, it’s ready to go, and Fishburn says the public can expect everyone to be situated in it by the end of the month.
CICW spoke with Fishburn about the what the building will provide, and more on what it means to the community.
