Mayor Donna Reardon was joined by new Members of the Legislative Assembly, Aaron Kennedy and Kate Wilcott, along with others, for the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women on today.
After white ribbons were distributed, the flag at City Hall was lowered and a minute’s silence was observed in commemoration of the 14 women murdered in the 1989 École Polytechnique massacre, and other victims of violence.
Mayor Reardon and new Minister for Local Government, Aaron Kennedy, spoke to the assembled crowd, Mayor Reardon also spoke with Local 107.3FM about the commemoration of the massacre and the continuing problem of violence against women today.
