The plans for the redevelopment of Bonnerworth Park were revealed at a public drop-in session on March 21, 2024. The plans include replacing the baseball diamonds and tennis courts with a new skate park, a bicycle pump track, and 16 pickleball courts.
Since then, many residents have joined together in opposition of the redevelopment through protests, lawn signs, and petitions. On Monday, over 100 people gathered for a rally in front of city hall to show their continued opposition for the planned redevelopment.
“It’s the last [city council] meeting before the summer, so we thought we had better be here,” said David Wesley, an organizer of the rally.
The rally consisted of speakers, group chants, and an appearance from local youth baseball players.
