Loyalist Township staff presented the 2024 draft budgets to council this week.
The budgets include long lists of postponed and cut items from the operating and capital budgets.
Outdoor movie nights, a second Legacies of Loyalist film, aquatic programming on the weekends, and accessibility upgrades at the township’s Odessa office are all among the operating budget’s cut or removed items.
Capital projects that have been deferred, or postponed, include the Odessa firehall expansion, reconstruction and repairs to a number of roads in the township, and upgrades to the Willie Pratt Sports Field in Amherstview.
Staff also noted the amount of industrial and residential growth in the area, and while finalizing the budget over the next two weeks, will look for better ways for the township to capitalize on this growth.
Two more meetings on the 2024 draft budgets are set to take place over the next two weeks.
