A team of computer science students from Centre Wellington District High School are competing in CyberTitan VII.
The challenge is hosted by the University of Waterloo in partnership with the Information and Communications Technology Council. Teams from across the country work to fend off a cyber attack. They have to analyze the vulnerabilities in their operating system, find out how the attack happened and fix it.
Ultimately, the goal of the CyberTitan competition is to get more young people interested in cyber security as a career. Timothy King, Cyber Education Coordinator with ICTC, says there are thousands of cyber security jobs going unfilled across the country. He says students from Centre Wellington have gone on to work in cyber security across the world including Europe and Asia.
CyberTitan VII runs Wednesday, May 8 and Thursday, May 9 at the University of Waterloo campus.
