The Carlsbad Springs Community Centre parking lot is again hosting the well-known recycling drive, which was started 10 years ago.
Volunteer Lucie Regimbald has been involved since its beginning in 2014. She said the event started as both a way to reduce valuable resources going into landfills and to raise funds for Dump This Dump 2 (CTD2). DTD2 was a sister organization to Dump the Dump Now (DTDN) in neighbouring Russell. Both groups were formed in opposition to the proposed Taggart Miller landfill which would turn farmland and a forested wetland on Boundary Road into a mega-landfill.
The recycling drive is May 25 and takes metals, electronics, household appliances, and more.
