The president of Cape Breton Building Trades and Unionized Contractors says his organization has a vested interest in the success of students enrolled in trades courses – which is why they made a donation of $100,000 to NSCC’s Sydney Waterfront Campus.
“NSCC has been our industry partner for many years. They train the tradespeople who are in our unions and we know we have a continuing relationship because they do the level training for most of our unions and contractors,” says Dalton. “Ultimately, we built that building and our trades professionals are there so that is the biggest reason we would support the NSCC Waterfront Campus.”
Dalton says the money will be used in the trades wing to purchase tools for the various workshops where they are needed.
The donation was announced yesterday. NSCC says the group has supported Cape Breton students for over 16 years with various initiatives including four annual student awards.
