The Rossland Winter Carnival is returning this month for the first time in five years and the bobsled races are back.
Bobsled races haven’t been part of the Rossland Winter Carnival since 2019 due to insurance reasons. This year, they were able to get the event insured through Sport BC Insurance, allowing the races to return.
Canada’s longest running winter carnival has been a Rossland staple since 1898.
This year’s event runs on Jan. 26-28 and some of the events include a rail jam on Queen street hosted by Red Mountain; a snow maze at the Rossland Museum; the Winter Carnival Variety Show at Rossland Secondary School; and the Blizzard Music Festival which hosts live music at several venues.
Rossland City Councillor and President of the Rossland Winter Carnival Society Lisa Kwiatkowski joined CJLY to discuss the festivities.
