A local organization providing palliative care has launched new and improved workshop and training programs for Brome-Missisquoi and Haute-Yamaska to better support individuals facing an end-of-life situation.
Au Diapason has had a basic training program on end-of-life care and palliative care, which typically serves as a launching pad for future volunteers with the organization, for a number of years, explained Executive Director Charlotte Evans.
She added that over time, the team realized they needed to provide more concrete opportunities for people to have conversations around death , and to develop knowledge and resources that can help support them and their loved ones.
With that in mind, Au Diapason developed two new programs: “Death Cafés” – safe spaces for people to talk about death – and “I Accompany my Dying Loved One at Home” – a workshop designed to equip caregivers with the tools and information they need to better manage their situation.
